It’s Real!

Today Jake and I went to my second checkup with our midwife. It was Jake’s first time meeting Julia and her apprentice (Nene) and I was looking forward to having them all meet so I could be rest assured that it was a good match for all.

I did the normal checkup routine and towards the end Julia said that we might  be able to hear the baby’s heartbeat today since I was almost 12 weeks. Surprised, but excited, I laid down and she squeezed some aloe jelly stuff on my belly. hehe just like the movies I thought.

She quickly found my heartbeat, moved the wand around a bit and found the baby. Oymygosh!!! I was beyond excited and happy to hear that quick little heartbeat.

Two things crossed my mind. The first was overjoyed and the second was complete and utter love. This little girl/guy that has been making my sick most mornings is totally real. Now when I think about our fruit posts it takes on a completely new meaning. I have something living and growing inside of ME.

So utterly amazing.

 ……

Starry eyed we decided to celebrate with lunch together at Cheesecake Factory. We never officially celebrated when we found out we were pregnant since everything was so hectic around here and figured now was as good of time as ever. Plus, like a preggo would turn down a good meal.

This one is for the pregnancy journal

Celebratory Lunch @ The Cheesecake Factory

6/7/11

(Jake, Jess, and their  large plum)

Feeling very grateful and full of love this evening. A simple evening relaxing at home on the couch after a walk with Mr. Stew was definitely in order after a day like today.

Those of you who don’t know what Pinterest is should be forewarned.

It’s an addicting site that lets to organize inspiration boards for, well, anything your sweet little heart desires. And now that my summer vacay has officially begun my sweet little heart is full of lots of inspiration for our humble abode. Speaking of which I know I am lacking on the pictures of our new place. The house isn’t quite done yet so I am kinda holding off until we at least finish the dining room. OK back to the project.

I’ve been kind obsessed with frame collage walls and have been pinning like crazy. One of them that I totally heart is this one….

I fell in love with the colors and how light and bright everything felt. Our last townhouse here in Austin was cute, small but darrrrrkkkkk. I’ve been wanting to decorate in anything but dark colors in our new place since it already has such bright natural light and the inspiration above was definitely speaking my language.

Now, I’m not bold enough to wallpaper a room myself, but we do have this crazy (some would call ugly) wallpaper in our dining room that I’m totally  in love with. I imagine the woman who decorated the wall in the dining room thought it added just the right amount of elegance to the place. I can even imagine her husband rolling his eyes but doing as a good little husband is told so he doesn’t have to hear her complain anymore. her 50’s good taste is my gain. I’d might even dare  say that this wall was one of my top reasons for wanting this place.  Who doesn’t love a little 50’sgrandmarandomness in their life?

Behold, the peacock wall in all its glory.

And since my love of wallpaper is something new to me I needed some inspiration about how to incoorpoate it into our decor. So dollars and iphone  in hand, I ventured out to some of my new fav thirft stores in search of old/unique/interesting frames and prints that I could use to steal  recreate the room above.

I picked up 7 wood and gold frames and a gold “V” for less than 20 bucks and grabbed a few cans of black and white spray paint before heading home.

I knew I didn’t want to go too crazy so I sprayed most of the frames black and chose a select few to spray white.

I had to wait to let these dry so I started to arrange the ones that didn’t need painting. I had laid all of the frames on the floor but my whole pattern got mixed up when I picked them up so I figured that I would just arrange as I went.

Once the other frames dried I finished playing with them until I was satisfied with this…

You like?! Please excuse the frames without pictures yet. That’s part two of the project. I plan on going through wedding photos (since we have a bajillion from our photographer) and placing friends and family all along the wall. I do have to say I am please with the final product (despite the poor iphone quality) and feel inspired to finish off the room.

If I can do this, so can you. So jump on board the pinterest train and start pinning.

(p.s. you have to be invited to starting pinning. email me <jessicastewart102 at gmail dot com> and I’ll send you an invite)
